It’s time to tell us your story, we’re all ears.

What do you really want in life? What is it that motivates you? Whether it’s security, clarity, peace of mind or freedom, it’s our job to get to the bottom of exactly what drives you, so we can work with you – long term – and get you to a point where you can kick back, relax, and enjoy a life of financial independence now, and into the future.

What we do here at Booth is known as lifestyle financial planning. You’re not alone if you are wondering how that differs from traditional financial advice: it’s something we’re asked a lot. So, what is lifestyle financial planning, and how will it help you achieve your aspirations and the financial security you thirst for?

Planning for the long term

Booth clients know the way we work is long term, guiding them in a tailored way through the money side of their major life events. Being there when they need us and keeping them on track so their aspirations stay watertight as the years go by. This is what lifestyle financial planning is all about: it’s an ongoing relationship, and one that as a client of Booth Financial Planning, you’ll look forward to enjoying for many years to come.

What we do isn’t centred on financial ‘products’ or investments. Yes, certain products may work for you, but at the core of lifestyle financial planning is your story and until we’ve got to know where you are, where you want to be – and when – how could we possibly know whether a financial product would be right for you? The fact is, you might already be in a position to switch to your ideal lifestyle, you just don’t know it yet. Lifestyle financial planning will give you that clarity.

Different hats, different stages

You can look at lifestyle financial planners as wearing three hats: life planner, financial planner and independent financial adviser. We’ve talked about this more in the fly-outs below, as we thought it would be useful for you to know how we work.

Why not give us a call so we can arrange our first chat? Once we’ve had that, we’ll be able to see if we fit together and if what we do is right for you. In the meantime, please feel free to download our easy to read ‘guide to our services’ which includes an example of how we charge for our services.

  • The first stage is to get together for a chat. It’s all nice and informal and gives us the chance to see if we’re right for each other. We’ll talk to you about what you’re expecting to get out of the relationship, explain the way we work and how we charge for it. This step is free of charge and without obligation. If we agree we will be a good fit, we can move to the next step. Our fees start from £1,200 per year which includes unlimited access to your personal planner, year round priority response and an annual review.

  • This is where we put on our life planner hat. Listening to your story, we’ll get to know your life plan. This really is the most important step in the whole process. You’ll find that we lead, and that we push difficult questions about your financial situation. Booth clients are focused on their goals, and we work together to achieve them. Everything we gather during this step goes towards helping us develop your financial plan.

  • Once we know what you want to achieve, we switch to our financial planner hat. Wearing this, we’ll be identifying all the resources available to you now and in the future, and what you’ll need to achieve your life plan. We’ll be upfront and realistic, and will bring in scenarios, such as the impact of your death or disability, so we can analyse the impact on your family’s financial security.

  • Embracing and investing in new technology allows us to deliver a comprehensive financial plan around your unique goals and aspirations. It will illustrate your future as it stands now and the action you need to take to get to where you want to be. Booth clients appreciate the fact that they get an honest, realistic picture so they can be clear headed about what to do next. Any financial planning recommendations we make within the plan are all fully explained, and you’ll have the opportunity to consider everything in your own time.

  • If your financial plan shows you would benefit from a financial product or investment, it’s time for another switch of headwear, this time to our independent financial adviser hat. Here we put our expertise to work selecting and carefully structuring the right products to suit your individual situation. We’ll also work closely with any other professional advisers such as your solicitor, accountant and stockbroker to make sure everything is fully joined up.

  • Putting your financial plan in action is only the beginning of a relationship that Booth clients know will endure many years. Life has a habit of changing, so it is essential your plan is regularly reviewed to make sure your aspirations are kept on track, and that you can maintain what you’ve achieved. We’ll keep in touch with you, and review your plan at least once a year, or sooner should there be a significant change to your situation.

'From our first meeting, Philip put me totally at ease and really took the time to understand my financial situation and uncover what was important to me. The process took me through my financial options and tailored a comprehensive plan for my needs, meaning I can now sleep more comfortably at night'
